Career advice in 'remarkably robust' market

SearchCIO.com senior news writer Linda Tucci talks about careers in this podcast with CIO recruiter Shawn Banerji, managing director of technology and business services at Russell Reynolds Associates Inc. in New York. Banerji says the most able CIOs bring four "core competencies" to the job: strategy, execution, team leadership and the ability to influence. With the exception of financial services, the marketplace for CIOs is "remarkably robust," he says. Companies are looking for CIOs who can leverage their considerable investment in IT of recent years by, for example, consolidating to a hub-and-spoke model, using governance to synchronize technology and business goals and by better managing risk.
